Two shots of bees in my lavender plant - you have to find the bee in this top photo.
This is either a photo of a bee face, or a bee butt. Not quite sure.

A new insect (beetle) to add to the Magnolia Menagerie of Insects. This tree has been an endless source of fascination for me this year.

Easter Lilies in June? These are in the United Methodist Church garden, behind the 100-or-so year old wrought iron fence.

The sky today about 10:20 am as I walked back from the bank and post office. I love the convex look of it.
Small and abundant day lilies near a market in town. On Monday the whole area was abloom and vibrant. In this photo, taken Tuesday, you can see the new blooms and the withering day old blooms.

It's Day Lily season! Here's some pretty ones on the corner of the steps leading down to the street.

I walk by this magnolia tree everyday on the way to work. This is the first flower of the year on this tree. I caught it, and its friendly bugs, yesterday, which is a good thing as storms did a number on the blossom today.

These wonderful tulips are blooming in a state park nearby. They remind me of the highly prized "Viceroy" tulip of the 17th century Dutch Tulip Mania.
During my morning walk to work two days ago I found this Iris stalk laying on the ground, having been chewed off near ground level by the local bunny. At the time it had only one bloom open at the very top. Today I came into my office and discovered these two blooms had opened, and the original bloom had shriveled. I can't tell you how happy it made me to see these blooms open.

Stinkbug
This is a Loudoun County Stinkbug on my car.
This is him hanging in an art exhibit last fall at Franklin Park. He could have gone to Germany as part of a sister cities art display, but not enough people voted for him to go. Given how people dislike stinkbugs, you'd think they'd have voted to send this one overseas. Oh well.
Under the Sea
Here's a link to some wonderful undersea critter photos. I especially like the Harlequin Shrimp, number 12.

Flowers
These are flowers that arranged themselves in the mug. All I did was cut their bottoms and put them in the water.
Opening Day
This is how I learn - get an idea, look up how to do it, ask an expert a few pertinent questions, dive in.
Diving.
Splash!
I'm in the blog pool, dog paddling for now, but hoping to be doing regular laps very quickly.
